How We Met

Markay:

In November, 1995, I was working on finishing my Psychology degree at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.  I had been on the internet for a few months and was corresponding with several men.  Lots of interesting people out there (and some pretty scary ones, too!)  I had put an ad for e-pals in AOL's Netgirl, and received a reply from an artist living in Missoula, Montana, who was the director of the Paxson Gallery and curator of the Permanent Art Collection at The University of Montana Museum of Fine Arts.  He was pretty interesting, and we kept writing.  It was nice to come home in the evening and find mail from my new friend.  We never ran out of things to write about.

As time went by, we came to like each other more, and then to love each other.  With much trepidation, we met on February 23, 1996, in Spokane, halfway between Missoula and Ellensburg.

And  found that we liked each other in person, too.

I graduated with honors in June of 1996, got a job in Missoula, and moved here with my five children.  (Haven, Marketta, Alice, Kate, and Richard.)  Dennis, who at 46 had never been married before,  has learned to deal with the children very well.

Of course, he's a pretty cool guy.

Dennis:

In November of 1995 I was surfing the net and discovered an interesting woman, a sincere and pleasant mystery.  She told me that she had very strong religious convictions and I told her I was an absolute heathen and liked listening to Jazz to keep the angels off my back.

She corresponded with me daily without fail and I thought it would probably be a good idea to meet her sometime.  Little did I know what would happen . . .

And I still  listen to Jazz to keep the angels off my back.  (and kids too)
